Em janeiro de 2017, a artista Carla Lombardo com seu projeto Gentrificada, participou da Convocatória para o Mobiliário Brasileiro no MASP em São Paulo. Nele se mostrou a mesa feita pelo Sr. Biu de Tatuoca, removido da sua casa pela milicia de Suape que atua na região controlada pelo Complexo Industrial Portuário de Suape.
A partir desse trabalho surgiu o convite da SSS- South Small Sister – agência de contravigilância da milicia de Suape- para realizar o filme.

In January 2017, “Gentrified” a project made by the artist Carla Lombardo made part of the Open Call for a Brazilian Furniture in MASP, São Paulo. The work consisted in a exhibition of a table made by Sr. Biu a victim of Suape Militia that acts in the zone controlled by the Suape Industrial Port Complex.
From that work, SSS – South Small Sister – a militia counter-vigilance agency, commissioned the film.

Sr. Biu era o último morador/nativo da Ilha de Tatuoca em Pernambuco considerado parte do território controlado pelo Complexo Industrial Portuário Suape. O mesmo controla a região e através da #miliciasuape intimida, expulsa e realiza remoções. Sr.Biu fabricava há anos essas mesas docemente chamadas para sua exposição no MASP de Gentrificada. O nome alude a remoção forçada de Sr. Biu, da ilha de Tatuoca.
O filme instaura um regime de visualização de imagens técnicas dispostas a pensar sobre a representação e orientação num mundo de dados.

Mr. Biu was the last native resident of Tatuoca Island in Pernambuco (Northeast Brazil), a place now considered part of the territory controlled by the Suape Port Industrial Complex. The Suape Complex controls the region and through its militia. it has been intimidating, expelling and removing the local populations. A carpenter, Mr. Biu has fabricated tables for years; in a project made for Convocatória para um Mobiliário Brasileiro (Open Call for a Brazilian Furniture) an installation at the MASP (Art Museu of São Paulo), the tables were dubbed as Gentrificada (Gentrified).
The film builds a regime of visualization with technical images that invite us to think about representation and orientation in a world of data.
